Alice Gerrard Record Release “Follow the Music”
In a career spanning some 40-plus years, Alice Gerrard has known, learned from, and performed with many of the old-time and bluegrass greats and has in turn earned worldwide respect for her own important contributions to the music. 12-time Grammy Award winner Emmylou Harris has described Alice Gerrard as “the real deal with the right stuff who hasn’t forgotten where country music came from, with a voice that harkens back to the likes of Sara and Maybelle.” On Thursday, October 30th at 8pm, The ArtsCenter will host the record release of Gerrard’s new album “Follow the Music” featuring M.C. Taylor of Hiss Golden Messenger.

The trailblazing folksinger famously collaborated with Hazel Dickens. Their classic recordings for Folkways and Rounder in the ’60’s and 70’s “rank among the most influential recordings in folk music history,” (All Music Guide), and laid the groundwork for many artists, especially female bluegrass and folk musicians.
