MealsOnWheelsChapel Hill-Carrboro Meals on Wheels has received $3,500.00 from the Food Lion Charitable Foundation just in time for summer to help feed home-bound seniors and disabled individuals in Chapel Hill, Carrboro and southern Orange County. This gift will be used to offset the subsidy provided to those clients who are unable to pay for their own meals.

“We appreciate the support Food Lion gives us and their interest in the health and well-being of our community,” said Executive Director Stacey Yusko.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro Meals on Wheels has served the community for nearly 40 years. The Meals on Wheels program provides meals Monday through Friday to more than 150 recipients in Chapel Hill, Carrboro and southern Orange County. Nutritionally-approved meals are prepared by K&W Cafeteria and supplemented with fruit, milk and desserts. More than 33,000 meals were delivered in 2013.

Established in 2001, the Food Lion Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $9 million in grants.
